✦ Fun fact

UT Gunita was officially formed in 2021 to celebrate Filipino culture even in the midst of the turmoil caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The premise that anyone of any ethnicity and any level of dance experience can join our team makes our ability and passion for performing stronger.

✦ Why this market matters
FYP ATX is one of the few opportunities for Filipino culture to be celebrated in the Austin area. Performing traditional Filipino dances for Filipinos and non-Filipinos alike can really help spread awareness regarding the multiple cultures of the Philippines, which directly aligns with UT Gunita's goal to create a community and grow our knowledge of Filipino culture.

We are the Austin Filipino Cultural Dance Troupe, an intergenerational group dedicated to preserving and sharing Filipino culture through traditional dance. Our dancers range from youth to adults, united by a love for heritage, community, and cultural pride. We’re honored to perform across Central Texas and share the vibrant traditions of the Philippines with audiences like you. Tonight, we’re excited to bring a piece of Filipino culture to the stage—thank you for celebrating with us! We are still working on the dance we will perform.
